Twas the night before the 1st day of school, and all through the house,
every creature was stirring probably even a mouse!
When it came time to wake every Cardinale pup,
it was horrendous to make them get up!
Though our children will never admit it, they have more trouble going to sleep on the night before school starts than they do on Christmas Eve! (What's wrong with them?)
Oh, we were home to begin the going to bed rituals plenty early. However, if we would've stayed out late, it probably wouldn't have been as freaking horrible.
The kids made their lunches, got backpacks and clothes ready, had all the baths done and should have been in bed by 9:00. But nope! No such luck! Well except Tony-he was all nestled snug in his bed, dreaming of wild indians needing arrested in his head!
Mostly the blame would be on Lace! She boinged from Khayle's room, to Andy's room, took a brief stop in her own room, and then in to ours. The big kids first pleaded and finally screamed at her to stay out and go to sleep. Eventually, Lace must not have been able to terrorize further, and stopped bugging them. They may have gotten to go to sleep by 11:00.
Then, every 3-5 minutes in to my room she came to let me know she still couldn't sleep. After the first hour of that, I pretended to be asleep, hoping that if no one was awake she would give up and fall asleep. For the next little while I had to NOT react at ALL. Not so easy when she is petting me on the face saying things like: "Oh Mommy! You are just so precious when you're sleeping," and "Cutie mommy just sleeping so good!" I had to turn over so she couldn't reach my face. At some point, she finally ended up sleeping in her bed.
And guess what? The night after the first day of school, none of them could get to bed fast enough!
Then, like a Christmas miracle, came some PEACE & QUIET! Finally, after 3 long months of a very LOUD & ARGUE filled summer! YAY!
By the way...they all got to school on time, no one was even crying, and I didn't even have to beat them! AWESOME! (We wont discuss the 2nd day much, there may have been tears and screams, but they were on time!)
Here's a few pictures. They suck, but I was in a hurry to be on time!
Andy had a slight smile as he got ready to be an 8th grader!
Khayle the 6th grader didn't seem so excited to have her picture taken.
Lace couldn't seem to focus long enough to look at the camera. Hope that's not a sign of ADD! I think all-day kindergarten teachers must be heaven sent! Good luck, Miss Perkins:)
Aren't they good looking babies? I just can't believe they are all so big and grown up already!
